Congratulations to Dearborn Unified Figure Skating Team Winners

Congratulations to the achievements of our Dearborn Unified Figure Skating Team at the recent Michigan High School State Championships held on March 22 and 23 in Midland, Michigan. The Dearborn Unified emerged as STATE CHAMPIONS in the Team Competition, successfully competing against the top 12 district-qualifying teams from across Michigan. This significant achievement marks the highest finish ever for Dearborn Unified. Additionally, they secured first place in every District Competition, earning the title of District Champions. The individual skaters also performed exceptionally well at the State Championships. In a field that included over 35 teams and more than 200 skaters, Dearborn Unified ranked 2ND IN MICHIGAN in the overall Team High Point standings for individual events. This is another outstanding accomplishment, representing our highest finish in this category.

Individually, the following skaters from Edsel Ford High earned podium placements in their respective events:

Edsel Ford:

  • Olivia Makled: State Runner-Up, Gold Ice Dance
  • Molly Holland: Third Place, Showcase

Many of these young women exemplify the qualities of elite athletes. Several of them dedicate their mornings to training at 5 AM and return to the ice after school, committing countless hours to improve their skills. Edsel Ford Students Olivia Makled and Molly Holland have been selected for Team USA by U.S. Figure Skating and have competed internationally, bringing home national medals!
