ACCESS is excited to announce that Dr. Abdul El-Sayed will be kicking off National Arab American Voter Registration Day (NAAVRD), Saturday, October 8th this year as our guest speaker! Dr. El-Sayed is not only a former gubernatorial candidate and Director of the Detroit Health Department; he is also apassionate advocate for democracy in all that he does. We are looking forward to hearing him speak on the importance of the participation of Arab American communities specifically in these processes.
NAAVRD is a day where MENA organizations throughout the US engage in educating and mobilizing voters, registering residents and new citizens to vote, and ensuring everyone has access to the tools they need to be able to vote.
Dr. El-Sayed will kick us off with a rallying speech at 12:45PM, and from 1:00PM-3:00PM we will be canvassing and tabling in the community registering folks to vote and sharing crucial election information. At 3:00PM, we will reconvene for a community picnic, where we will have fun activities for the whole family to participate in! We need you to volunteer with us to make this a successful, meaningful, and enjoyable event!
If you students (or staff!) are interested in volunteering with us, please have them fill out the volunteer interest form or you can use this link: bit.ly/NAAVRD2022. The more volunteers that we have for this event, the further the impact to our community can reach!
