The following was sent 2/24/21 to the teams
Edsel Ford Freshmen and JV Boy’s Basketball Players and Parents,
This morning I was informed by an official who worked the basketball games at Southgate on Monday, February 22 had tested positive for COVID. The official tested positive on a rapid test and has no sign or symptoms at this time. Working with the School Nurse, the Wayne County Health Department and Southgate High School the determination is to have both programs on pause at the moment and treat this as a presumptive positive case. The Health Department is pausing the program until the results come back from the official’s PCR test. If the test results come back positive then we will have to quarantine the teams and return to basketball activities on March 9th. If the PCR test results come back negative then the pause will be lifted and team activities will resume. We hope to have some information back from the official as soon as he is notified of his test results. Once I am made aware of the results I will email everyone and the coaches will reach out to the players as well. Attached is a letter explaining the close contact.
If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to ask and I appreciate your patience on this matter.
