Edsel Ford High School

Graduation Announcement:

Dear Edsel Ford Class of 2020 Graduates and Families,

We are pleased to announce that the Dearborn Board of Education unanimously approved our graduation plan for Monday, July 13th.  Edsel Ford’s Individualized and Personal Graduation will take place from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Edsel Ford Auditorium. Thank you to the Board of Education and Superintendent Maleyko for their efforts and commitment to our graduating class. Many details will follow in the coming weeks as we finalize the plan to honor this special graduating class that history will always remember.  We have been working for hours and days to bring this moment to life. Class of 2020 – you are our Class to remember!!

While this is not the traditional ceremony that we all wanted to deliver and you so deserve. We have created a plan that is safe for all and is based on making decisions on the most current and best information available from Lansing and our local leaders.  Our goal from the beginning has been to give each graduate an individualized and personal graduation experience.  Each graduate will wear a cap and gown, have their name read, walk across a stage, take a picture and get acknowledged and be celebrated by their parents, dignitaries and staff as they are clapped out of the building in an Edsel Ford time honored tradition.

This will all take place in the Edsel Ford auditorium which will be decorated with flowers, balloons, Congratulations banner, etc…. And we will have the A/C on! The total number allowed per family will be 3 (Graduate and 2 guests). Weeks ago we made the decision to postpone the original ceremony dates so that we could maximize the experience for the Class of 2020 as conditions have improved.  In looking at the weather forecast for Monday, July 13th – it is forecast to be 89 degrees and sunny – with the real feel temp of 95 degrees.  On a football field that could reach 105 degrees or more. For everyone’s safety – we are committed to hold our ceremony in the safety and comfort of our beautiful auditorium. Planning this as an indoor event will allow for everyone to remain safe, comfortable and we will be able to deliver the best experience and memories possible for each graduate and family.  Thank you for your ideas, patience and support through this entire experience.  Many details and communication will take place in the coming weeks…. Stay tuned!  Time to celebrate Thunderbirds!!

Sincerely,

Scott Casebolt
