Principal’s Statement to the Edsel Ford Community

November 20,  2018

Dear Parents,

It is with a very heavy heart that I share with you serious and sad news.

Early this afternoon, a student from Edsel Ford High School was involved in a fatal car accident. Out of respect for the family, we are not releasing any additional information at this time.  As more details are shared on how best to express our condolences, we will pass that information along to our Edsel Ford family.

This type of very sudden and tragic loss will impact the staff, students, and our community. Although many people will hear about this event over our extended Thanksgiving break, we will have our own counselors and social workers as well as additional support from our district crisis team at the school on Monday, November 26 to assist staff, students, and parents who may be struggling emotionally with this tragic loss.

When events like this happen so suddenly, we are often filled with questions about why and how. We may never understand the answers to those questions and right now that is not the focus of our energy. I ask everyone to focus on how we as a community can come together to help our Edsel family through this very difficult time. The comfort of a caring community is the most important gift we can offer the family at this time.

Thank you,

Scott Casebolt
Principal
