Daily News for Feb. 12th

Good morning, Edsel Ford! Today is Thursday, February 12th, and these are your daily announcements.

 

Congratulations to the Edsel Ford Varsity Cheer team for placing first at the Spirit Shine competition in the cheer-dance non-mounting division.

 

There will be an Islamic club meeting on Wednesday, February 18th with a great guest speaker. Everyone is welcome.

 

This year’s Sponge will be held on Friday, March 13th from 7-10 pm. Guest Passes are  ID’s will be required at the door. Tickets will be sold throughout the month of February at both lunches by class officers:   $40 per couple and $25 for singles.  If you owe a fine or have been suspended in or out of school for any reason during the second semester, you will not be allowed to attend the Sponge Dance.

 

Guest pass applications for the Sponge Dance will be available in the student office starting this coming Monday. Your completed guest pass must be turned in to the student office no later than March 6th—NO EXCEPTIONS!

 

Juniors interested in after school ACT/MME prep came to room F-5 and sign up with Mrs. Katzman.  Sessions will run next Tuesday and Wednesday, February 17 and 18th.

 

There will be a National Honor Society meeting today at 2:25 in the cafeteria.  We will be rehearsing for the induction ceremony.  This is a very important MANDATORY meeting.

 

The boys’ golf team meeting will be in the cafeteria at 2:20 on Monday, February 16th.  Anyone interested in golfing must be there to pick up golf information at that time.

 

Any girl interested in playing girls’ soccer will need to see the information sheet in Mr. Picano’s window.

 

Attention All Varsity Football Players: We will be honoring the 2008 Mega Blue Championship Varsity Football team at half time of the girl’s basketball game on Friday, February 13.

 

Reminder to all athletes:  you must have a sports physical on file to try out for spring sports.

 

You are invited to a night of student directed scenes! Theater students from Crestwood, Dearborn, Divine Child, and Edsel Ford will come together to share the DHS stage in an evening of comedy and drama directed by the students. This event will feature many if the talented student actors and actresses at these four area high schools on Friday February 13th at DHS at 7:30. Tickets are $5. Please come to support our talented actors.

 

The first Gay-Straight Alliance meeting will be held today  at 2:30 in Room C-4.  Everyone is welcome!  There are some open office positions, if anyone is interested.

 

Thornley Court Club will be having a Valentine’s Day Bake Sale today and tomorrow by the gym hallway near the cafeteria.  Buy your sweetie a nice treat!

 

Please remember to drop off any leftover bread from home in the breadbox in the hall by the Thornley Court doors.   The birds love it!

 

Did you know that our school will be implementing a late-start program on certain Wednesdays?  Students will report to school at 8:15 instead of 7:15.   First hour will begin at 8:25.  Students who are bussed to school will report to the building at the regular time, and go to the cafeteria.

 

Application forms for Juniors who would like to be a member of the EF Report Crew are available in the Library Media Center through February.

 

Now for today’s sports:

Boys Varsity and JV basketball is home against Garden city at 5:30 and 7.

Boys Varsity Swimming is home against Monroe at 6:30.

 

Today’s lunch will consist of:

Burritos, spicy fries, pasta salad, cheese rolls, chocolate pudding, and chocolate chip cookies.

 

Today’s random fact:  today is the 200th anniversary of the births of both Abraham Lincoln and Charles Darwin.
