Edsel Ford High School

Daily News for Feb. 10th

Good morning, Edsel Ford! Today is Tuesday, February 10th, and these are your daily announcements.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) Feb. 11th is Count Day and Late Start Day. It is VERY important that you attend ALL of your classes on this day.  We will be tracking your attendance until you have attended all of your classes.  First hour will begin at 8:15 on Wednesday.

There will be a National Honor Society meeting this Thursday, Feb. 12 at 2:25 in the cafeteria.  We will be rehearsing for the induction ceremony.  This is a very important MANDATORY meeting.

Attention All Varsity Football Players: We will be honoring the 2008 Mega Blue Championship Varsity Football team at half time of the girl’s basketball game on Friday, February 13.

Reminder to all athletes:  you must have a sports physical on file to try out for spring sports.

You are invited to a night of student directed scenes! Theater students from Crestwood, Dearborn, Divine Child, and Edsel Ford will come together to share the DHS stage in an evening of comedy and drama directed by the students. This event will feature many if the talented student actors and actresses at these four area high schools on Friday February 13th at DHS at 7:30. Tickets are $5. Please come to support our talented actors.

The first Gay-Straight Alliance meeting will be held on Thursday, February 12 at 2:30 in Room C-4.  Everyone is welcome!  There are some open office positions, if anyone is interested.

Thornley Court Club will be having a Valentine’s Day Bake Sale on February 12th and 13th by the gym hallway near the cafeteria.  Buy your sweetie a nice treat!

If you have any bread at home that you won’t be eating, please bring it in and put it in the breadbox in the hall by the black doors to the courtyard.  The birds love it!

Thanks from the Thornley Court Club!

Did you know that our school will be implementing a late-start program on certain Wednesdays, starting tomorrow?  Students will report to school at 8:15 instead of 7:15.  Students who are bussed to school will report to the building at the regular time, and go to the cafeteria.  Please see your teacher or counselor for a list of Wednesdays and the daily schedule for this late start program.

Juniors who would like to be a member of the EF Report Crew can pick up an application form in the Library Media Center.  Applications will be accepted throughout February.

Edsel Ford will be sponsoring the annual wheelchair basketball game this WEDNESDAY, February 11th.   All proceeds will go to Wigs For Kids.   If you would like to play in the game, class officers will be signing up five boys and five girls from each class.

Hey Edsel Ford!  We are the “greenest” school in Dearborn!  We are in danger of losing our paper recycling bin if we don’t collect more paper.

Please encourage your parents, friends and neighbors to help us collect more.  Anyone with paper routes, please recycle your extra papers here at Edsel Ford.  The yellow and green bin is located by the student parking lot.  And, as always, recycle your paper in class instead of throwing it in the wastebasket.  Every little bit helps!

To become more involved with recycling here at Edsel Ford, come see Mrs. Haddad upstairs in the Academy, room A204B.  Thanks!

This year’s Sponge will be held on Friday, March 13th from 7-10 pm. Guest Passes are available and ID’s will be required at the door. Tickets will be sold throughout the month of February at both lunches by class officers:   $40 per couple and $25 for singles.  If you owe a fine or have been suspended in or out of school for any reason during the second semester, you will not be allowed to attend the Sponge Dance.

All students: you can still buy a yearbook for $70. There are less than forty to purchase so don’t wait! Get yours today! Also, baby and buddy ads are still available until space has been filled.

Now for today’s sports:

Boys’ freshman basketball is home against Fordson at 3:30.

Girls’ basketball is away against Romulus at 3:30, 5:30, and 7.

Today’s lunch will consist of:

Chicken patties on a bun, spicy chicken patties, mashed potatoes and gravy, chicken noodle soup, hamburgers, jello, chicken Caesar salad, sandwiches, chicken wrap sandwiches, and cheese rolls.

Now for today’s random fact:

Of the thirteen cafeteria ladies that work here at Edsel Ford, 9 went to Dearborn schools, 6 graduated from Edsel Ford, and 11 have kids who graduated from Edsel or are attending now. This proves that people in Dearborn tend to stick around!

Thanks for listening, Edsel Ford. Have a great day!
