K-12 Philosophy on Grading During School Closure 2020 Individual teachers will be responsible for assessing student progress and providing feedback. Assignments will be graded and entered in MiStar. Work completed prior to April 20th that demonstrates a student’s mastery of learning will count toward his/her grade.
Appeal Process
If a student receives an N (which is no credit) for the sixth marking, and can show evidence as to why he/she deserves credit, the student may submit an appeal for this grade. The student must contact the Executive Director of Student Achievement for their feeder track and complete this Grading Appeals Form. The form must be submitted by June 15th, 2020.
The information will be shared with the Appeals Committee. The Appeals Committee will include: Nada Fouani, Leadership Coach, the Executive Director of Student Achievement, school principal, department representation (if an English Learner or Special Education student) and at least one other member from the Instructional Cabinet. The committee will:
● review the teacher and building logs.
● Review student grades in MiStar
● Discuss information related to any hardship
● Review any documentation submitted.
● Come to consensus on a decision regarding whether or not to approve or deny the appeal
