Daily News for March 9th

Good morning, Edsel Ford! Today is Monday, March 9th and these are your daily announcements.

Hey Juniors:  Please be sure to bring your own calculator or arrange to borrow one from a Math teacher TODAY. You can use your calculators on the Math portion of all 3 tests; ACT Mathematics, Work Keys Applied Mathematics, and MME Mathematics.

Due to the ACT/MME testing schedule, the last three lunch periods that sponge tickets will be sold are Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Friday March 13th will be the last day to purchase tickets. Bring your money to either A or B lunch where class officers will be selling tickets.

Seniors:  You are expected to attend school this week every day except Tuesday.  Monday and Friday are full days.  Wednesday and Thursday you are to arrive at 11:05, for hours 1-3 on Wednesday and hours 4-6 on Thursday.  The only full day off for Seniors is Tuesday.

There will be assemblies this  Friday featuring the Conquerors Motivational Speakers Group to address the topics of “Success in School” and “Substance Abuse”.   9th and 11th graders will attend 2nd hour.  10th and 12th graders will attend 3rd hour in the gym.

Attention French NHS Members: There will be a short, but very important meeting Thursday, March 12th in Madame’s room to schedule our visits to Snow school.

The Class of 2011 is also selling St. Patrick’s Day flowers for $1 at both lunches.  The flowers will be delivered to the student’s 1st or 2nd hour class on March 17th.  Buy yours today!

There will be an Islamic Club meeting this Wednesday, March 11, after school with a special guest speaker.  Everyone is welcome!

Senior Party tickets will be on sale during lunch every Wednesday and Friday through March. Get your tickets early!

Girls’ Junior Varsity and Varsity Softball tryouts will be today from 3:30 to 5:30 in the big gym.  You will need to have a physical on file before you can tryout.

Track conditioning continues everyday at 2:35  by the weight room! Come ready to workout!

Baseball tryouts begin today and tomorrow. 10th graders 2:30-4 Monday through Friday and 11th and 12th graders 5:30-7 Monday through Thursday. You must have a physical on file or with you on Monday or you will not be allowed to participate. You must be academically eligible to make either team. See Coach Dallas in B10 if you have any questions.

Girls soccer tryouts will also be held today. Hope to see you there.

This year’s Sponge Dance will be held this Friday, March 13th from 7-10 pm. Guest Passes and ID’s will be required at the door.  If you owe a fine or have been suspended in or out of school for any reason during the second semester, you will not be allowed to attend the Sponge Dance.

Today’s lunch will consist of:

Chili, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken noodle soup, spicy fries, cheese sticks, bosco sticks, cheese rolls, nachos and cheese, and cookies.

And now for today’s sports:

Boys Varsity basketball has districts at 5:30 at Crestwood.

And now for today’s random fact:

It is believed that Shakespeare was 46 around the time that the King James Version of the Bible was written. In Psalms 46, the 46th word from the first word is shake and the 46th word from the last word is spear.

Thanks for listening, Edsel Ford. Have a great day!
