Edsel Ford High School

Fall Testing

Date:  9/10/20

Subject:  Fall PSAT and SAT Testing

Dear Parents & Guardians,

Because of the shutdown last spring, high school students were unable to take the PSAT and SAT assessments. To give students an opportunity to get exposure to these exams, the State of Michigan is providing the PSAT, PSAT/NMSQT and SAT assessments free of charge for all of our high school students this fall. We will not require students to take these exams. However, students can voluntarily elect to take the exams on the following dates:

9th Grade PSAT 8/9: October 27th

10th Grade PSAT/NMSQT: October 29th

11th Grade PSAT/NMSQT: October 29th

12th Grade SAT with Essay: October 14th (Class of 2021)

Class of 2022 will take SAT SPRING 2021

Any 11th grade student hoping to qualify for the collegiate academy must take the PSAT/NMSQT exam, as these scores are used to determine eligibility.

Each high school will provide a registration link to sign up for these exams. Here is the LINK to the Edsel Ford registration form. Students will need to submit their request by 3:00 pm September 14th. Students need to be logged in to their student gmail account to access the form.

These exams will be administered in person at the student’s high school on these dates. Student safety and health is our top priority. Students must wear a mask. We will stagger the arrival times of students and practice social distancing along with the other safety measures. All testing rooms will have a small number of students. We will send you the exact times of the test once we have determined how many students will be taking the exams.

We would like to encourage your child to take these exams. When students receive their scores they can link them to Khan Academy to get personalized SAT practice. This has been shown to increase student’s SAT scores. Details can be found at  https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/practice/khan-academy

Juniors that take the PSAT/NMSQT test can qualify for scholarships and other recognition programs. More information can be found at https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10/scholarships-and-recognition/recognition-programs

If you have any questions about exams please contact your counselor. https://efhs.dearbornschools.org/counseling-at-efhs/
