Daily News for Jan. 15th, 2009

Good morning, Edsel Ford.  Today is Thursday, January 15th, and these are your daily announcements.

 

Any girl interested in trying out for the 2009 softball team should attend a brief meeting on Wednesday, January 21st at 2:30 in the cafeteria. If you have any questions please see Mr. Picano.

 

Attention girls’ tennis members: Anyone interested in tennis lessons at the Dearborn Racquet Club should attend a short meeting tomorrow at 2:30 in the Cafeteria. A tennis pro from DRHC will have info for you.

 

Edsel: be prepared for our first semi-formal Black and White Ball on Feb. 27th from 7-9:30 in the big gym. Tickets will be sold during the month of February.

 

Attention French NHS members: please donate money (at least one dollar) by Friday to any French NHS officer to get flowers for Madame. Also, all officers please meet in the cafeteria after school on Friday to decide what flowers we will purchase.

 

Attention Students with Excessive Absences:

If you have exceeded the allowed 9 absences per semester and you have documentation proving you had extenuating circumstances that caused them, you are asked to pick up an attendance form from the counseling office. Be sure to attach any doctor’s notes to this form and return it no later that tomorrow.

 

If you need to make up classes unable, consider signing up for A.S.A.P.!   The “After School Accelerated Program” has been designed to help students succeed who are deficient in credits for graduation.  You can take 2 classes, either Tuesday and Thursday or Wednesday and Friday at a nominal cost of $150 per class.  The deadline to register is Jan. 23.  Late registration begins on Jan. 26 with an additional $30 charge.  Besides academic courses, there will be four electives:  psychology, speech, multimedia, and sociology.  Take advantage of this opportunity to further your education!  See your counselor A.S.A.P.!

 

Students: Be sure to return all overdue books to the Library Media Center and pay your late fines and printing charges right away, or your  schedule for next semester will be held.

 

The EFHS Performing Arts Department will present the Broadway hit “Les Mis” Jan. today thru Saturday at 7 pm each evening.  Tickets are on sale at the EFHS Box Office during lunch hours and after school until 6p.m.

 

All  Students:  Testing out will take place on Saturday, January 24th at Edsel.  Please see Mr. Baydoun in the Counseling Office for an application by Friday, Jan. 16.

 

 Yearbooks are now on sale for $70 from any yearbook staffer or in E-12 until the end of January.

 

Seniors—the deadline for baby ads and buddy ads is tomorrow!! Pick up forms in E-12.

 

You have until Tuesday, Jan. 20 to donate new or gently used children’s books in the LMC for the medical clinic for homeless women and children. 

 

Have you lost or misplaced your planner? If so, this is your lucky week. You can purchase a new planner for the unbelievably low price of $5 this week only. See Mrs. Hall or Mrs. Armstrong in the counseling office for this special price.

 

Now for today’s sports:

Boys’ Basketball is home against John F. Kennedy. Freshman begins at 3:30, JV begins at 5:30, and Varsity begins at 7.

Boys’ hockey is home at the DISC against Ann Arbor Huron at 7:20.

 

Today’s lunch will consist of:

Chicken patties, spicy chicken patties, tossed salad, cream of broccoli soup, hamburgers, French fries, jello, and sandwiches.
