Daily News for April 29, 2009

Good morning, Edsel Ford! Today is Wednesday, April 29th, and these are your daily announcements.

 

Attention students: Cell phones, IPOD’s or any other electronics that are confiscated WILL be held in the student office for 24 hours and MUST be picked up by a parent/guardian.  If this is a 2nd or 3rd offense, further discipline will follow the parent pickup.

 

Ms Daly needs to meet with all Interact Club members and our junior commissioners for City Beautiful. The meeting needs to take place tomorrow right after school in F13.

 

The first Saturday in May is free comic book day when participating comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely FREE to anyone who comes into their stores. Check with your local shop for their participation and rules.

 

Seniors: if you missed Jostens yesterday.  Your order is in the Main Office. Please stop by and pick up your order as soon as possible. If you have a balance please bring cash or money order only.

 

There will be a meeting of anyone interested in assisting the class of 2010 to organize, prepare, and run their final date at Edsel Ford: the senior class party, held the night just following their graduation from EFHS (likely to be June 4th, 2010)! All interested parents, guardians, supporters and other friends are welcome to attend and contribute time, energy and ideas on May 7th at 7:00 pm in the cafeteria.

 

All cross-country runners: There will be a short but VERY IMPORTANT meeting on tomorrow in the cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. PLEASE be there; we will be discussing running camp, summer training, fundraising, and there will be food!

 

Student Council officers: there will be a meeting in C-3 at 2:20 today.

 

Tryouts for the 2009-2010 cheerleading squad for both football and basketball season will be Friday, May 15 at 5:30 in the main gym.  We will have clinics on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday May 11th, 12th and 13th from 5 to 7 p.m.  You MUST have a physical to attend the clinics and tryouts. 

 

Prom tickets will be on sale from now until May 8th in the cafeteria: $90 for couples and $50 for singles.

 

On Thursday, May 14, the Yemen American Public Affairs Council will be hosting its 5th annual Educational Fair at the University of Michigan – Dearborn from 10:30 to 2:30. If you are interested in attending this event, please sign up in the Counseling Office or in Mr. William Ali’s office by Friday, May 1st.

 

Seniors: all library materials are due by May 15th.   All fines must be paid to avoid graduation difficulties.

 

Any seniors interested in trying out for Senior Commencement speeches must pick up an information form from Mr. Machak in C-6.   A typed form of the speech is due by May 15th.

 

Election applications for juniors running for student council and sophomores running for junior class officers can be picked up in the student office. Freshmen may pick up their applications from Mrs. Maculiff.  Please read the applications and follow the instructions.  Applications are due May 1st.

 

Hat day is this Friday!  Bring in a hat you want to wear for the day.  One dollar will get you a sticker to put on your hat:  no sticker – no hat.  Student Council and class officers will come to your classes with the stickers.  All funds raised will go to Kids with Cancer.

Boys’ Golf is away at Crestwood at 3.

Boys’ JV Baseball and Girls’ JV Softball is away at Romulus at 4.

Boys’ Varsity Baseball and Girls’ Varsity Softball is home against Romulus at 4.

Girls’ Soccer is away at Monroe, JV begins at 4 and Varsity at 5:30

Girls’ Varsity Track is home at 3:30 against Dearborn High

Boys’ Varsity Track is home at 3:30 against Redford Union

 

Today’s lunch will consist of: spaghetti with meat sauce, fresh fruit, bread sticks, cream of broccoli soup, chili cheese fries and our usual menu items.

 

Now for today’s random joke:

The math teacher saw that little Johnny wasn’t paying attention in class. She called on him and said, “Johnny! what are 4, 2, 28 and 44?”

Johnny quickly replied, “NBC, CBS, HBO and the Cartoon Network!”
